Used Car Purchases - return/repair under Consumer Protection/Warranty
Just after some advice in case anyone has any specific knowledge.

Recently bought a used car (end of Jan) from a Used Car Trader....full service history, 76,000 on the clock (been serviced 10 times in 76000 miles) with all supporting documents, Jeep Commander...£7,600 .

Just took it for a service just so I know where I am with it, and has been diagnosed as having a bearings issues with the turbo charger which will need replacement.

Given I only bought this in the last 3 weeks, and this was not made apparent at the point of sale (no mention in any of the service history, MOT 100% clean), can I reasonably go back to the dealer and hope for a repair under warranty/consumer protection.

Thanks for any educated advice.

Don't think they can legitimately fob you off with anything but a full repair.

They may try, though.

As long as you got a warrenty with the car I.e 3/6/12 months. The dealer/warranty company with a written report should have no problem with paying out for any subsequent repairs that your car may need within that period although you will need to check how much they will pay out as some warranty's only cover up to a certain amount. If they refuse then you can take it further to trading standards. If you need any further help who mail me as I'm in the motor trade myself and deal with warrenty repairs.

Can always trust a car dealer to do the right thing. Let us know how he tries to fuck you off Stubbo.

It's actually (this issue aside) pretty good. Was this or a Volvo XC90 (at that point where the wife wants 7 seats, family car type thing) and this at least has some retro appeal.

Reviews were pretty good and the 3.0 diesel Mercedes engine has a good reputation.

Anyway...shall be calling the dealers. Thanks for all the messages of support!

If you are still within the 30 days I believe you can take it back and request a full refund

Used cars from a trader have to be supplied with a 3 month warranty as a minimum.

Take it back.

Why not try the dealer first before asking us. Nothing to lose is there?
